Mountain Trail Gibb River Road Expedition

A 10-day expedition documentary designed to put viewers right in the passenger seat.

Led by Anna Shepherd, Meerkat Creative joined Nick and Heidi (Mountain Trail owners) as they put the new Toyota 300 Series LandCruiser through its paces on one of Australia’s most iconic and demanding outback routes — Gibb River Road — while towing a brand-new Mountain Trail caravan.

The journey kicked off in Darwin, where the team stocked up before heading fully off-grid for 10 days. From sunrise set-ups to dust-filled road miles, we captured the full experience: rugged track conditions, remote camps, hikes, waterfall swims, roadside stops, and the unscripted moments that make true adventure stories hit differently — including a blown tyre that became part of the narrative.

With long 14–16 hour days in heat, dust, and challenging terrain, this production pushed hard — and delivered even harder. Post-production was led by Keshi Sacdalan, with our team shaping the footage into a movie-length episode through a detailed editing timeline, multiple revision rounds, and carefully written scripted transitions + voiceover to bridge story gaps where on-camera interviews weren’t available.

The result: a cinematic, story-led adventure film that quickly attracted thousands of YouTube views in the first week, driving serious attention to the Mountain Trail brand and Nick and Heidi’s on-road lifestyle — while giving audiences the next best thing to being there themselves.
